Some examples of recent projects handled by RIO Logistics are shown in the gallery with details of each outlined below:
Project 1: The transportation of a large 60tn hammer from the client's yard to a pipeline vessel at Singapore Anchorage. The loading at the yard was completed using a 200tn mobile crane before lashing and trucking to the private ship yard using a heavy duty multi-axle low bed trailer. RIO then arranged for the deployment of a 180ft flat barge and handled the discharging from the trailer to the barge using a 300tn crane due to the outreach. Secure lashing and welding was then arranged before the journey and RIO also performed the lifting from the barge and direct loading on board the pipeline vessel at Anchorage.
Project 2: The cross border trucking of Subsea Trees (oil & gas machinery) transported from Tanjong Pelapas Port in Malaysia to Jurong Port, Singapore. The subsea trees weighed between 42-46tns and police escorts were required. The cargo was loaded on deck to the breakbulk vessel before making the journey to their final destination of Fremantle, Australia. RIO used a heavy duty multi-axle low bed trailer and organised the heavy lift lashing, certifications by surveyor, customs documentation, police escort teams in Singapore & Malaysia and the direct loading to vessel.
Project 3: The discharging and transport of SPMTs (Self-Propelled Modular Transporters) plus power packs. The cargo arrived in Singapore from Southampton (UK) on a RORO vessel with a total weight of 223tns (240m3). 2 units were shipped with each consisting of 2 x 4 axle SPMTs and 2 x 6 axle SPMTs plus a power pack. As well as these, 1 Mafi consisting of 2 x 6 axle SPMTs FI was also included. RIO performed the discharging from the vessel, the dismantling of the SPMTs, the transfer to another breakbulk port via trailers, the loading onto barges at the new port before the final delivery to Batam, Indonesia.
Project 4: The handling of offshore equipment (drill pipes & bits, gas cylinders, reels and other spares) for pipeline and support vessels. RIO handled the loading and transporting by tug and barge as well as the loading on board the vessel at Anchorage.
Project 5: An air charter flight from the Netherlands to Singapore. The cargo consisted of a bear cage (oil & gas structure) and a hydro power unit weighing 25tns with dimensions of 8 x 3.3 x 2.45m.
Project 6: The shipping by RORO vessel from Hamburg, Germany to Singapore of the identical cargo as above (a bear cage (oil & gas structure) and a hydro power unit weighing 25tns with dimensions of 8 x 3.3 x 2.45m). After the cargo had arrived in Singapore, RIO handled the discharging from the RORO vessel and transfer to the breakbulk port with a police escort. It was then loaded onto a breakbulk vessel for the final delivery to Surabaya, Indonesia.
Project 7: RIO's other specialised projects have involved stevedoring services for cruise vessels including replenishing fresh vegetables and fruit as well as frozen supplies. These time critical projects must be completed within a tight schedule and requires the manpower of 50-60 people to complete the operations. RIO also provides line handling services for the berthing & unberthing of US Navy ships docking at the Changi Naval Base in Singapore as well as the deployment of cranes & trailers to mobilise gangways, the transport & positioning of fenders & ramps and stevedoring services.
