WSS Project Team Handles Shipment for Crude Processing Units

17th November 2015

PCN members in the UAE, Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) have recently handled a shipment for 'Crude Processing Units' in Fujairah.

The shipment consisted of 31 heavy lifts and 7 lots of containers arriving for the crude processing units which are currently under development. The notable pieces included two boilers each weighing 65tns and measuring 12.10 x 4.60 x 4.51m, four crude preheaters weighing 26.8tns each and measuring 13.01 x 1.95 x 1.66m and four oil heaters weighing 26.2tns each and measuring 12.41 x 1.63 x 1.92m.

The WSS project team's tasks included route surveys, selection of transport vehicles from port to site, temporary removal of obstacles on the transport route, port handling & temporary port storage, customs inspection & inbound customs clearance within the stipulated time, transport from port to VTTI Terminal and offloading of the units at site.

WSS Project Operations Supervisor, Deepak Nair ensured proper coordination between vessel agents, stevedores, transporters, customs officials, port officials, crane operators, the client's site team and most importantly the terminal HSSE teams for timely receiving, shifting and offloading of the cargo which was crucial to this movement.

Niju John, Sales Development Manager, commented; "Our longstanding presence in the area has provided us with the critical infrastructure, people on the ground and local know-how via our ships agency team in port which proved an additional advantage in executing this move over other logistics providers based in the UAE".
