PCN member, TSL Australia have recently completed a challenging RORO shipment involving seven heavy articulated dump trucks exported from three Australian ports - Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane - to Pyeongtaek, South Korea.

The operation required careful coordination of specialised heavy haulage, including an inland transportation distance exceeding 700km, with all seven machines scheduled to load onto the same RORO vessel during its calls at the three separate ports.

Overcoming Unexpected Challenges

While the transportation arrangements were progressing as planned, several unexpected issues arose during the pre-shipment process.

During a cargo inspection at one of the ports, spider webs were discovered on one of the machines, triggering additional cleaning requirements. With the unit already inside the terminal, TSL Australia promptly sourced and engaged a third-party cleaning contractor to carry out the necessary work and ensure compliance with shipping line requirements.

Separately, two other machines were found to have antenna and exhaust components that had not been accounted for in the dimensions originally provided by the shipper. To resolve the issue, TSL Australia engaged external specialists to carry out the necessary height reductions, ensuring both machines were suitable for RORO loading.

These unforeseen challenges required quick coordination with third-party service providers, terminal operators, and the shipping line to minimise disruption to the planned shipment.

Three Ports, One Vessel, Seven Machines

Despite the additional operational requirements, TSL Australia successfully coordinated the loading of all seven units across Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane onto the same RORO vessel bound for South Korea.

The shipment demonstrates TSL Australia's ability to manage complex, multi-port project cargo movements while responding effectively to unexpected challenges on the ground.

With extensive experience in heavy machinery logistics, RORO shipping, and specialised inland transportation, TSL Australia continues to deliver practical, end-to-end solutions for project cargo movements throughout Australia.
