Spark Global Logistics Report Complex Breakbulk Move from Europe to Tasmania
7th May 2026
Spark Global Logistics in Australia are pleased to report a recent breakbulk move from Europe to Tasmania.
The project scope involved a large over-dimensional and heavy unit plus parts, ancillaries and other OOG units to be moved end-to-end and all together for a very important water plant in Tasmania.
Sebastian Laffont (Projects & Sales Manager at Spark Global Logistics) explained that the first challenge was to transport the high-value cargo to the port on main roads with a unit at almost 4m wide and over 35tn. With heavy restrictions to move the OOG cargo, the route also included difficult narrow roads.
With not many breakbulk or RORO options, the solution was to load the cargo across flat-racks on deck on a container vessel to Australia.
The next challenge was unloading the cargo at the discharge port, moving it onto trailers, and loading it onto a barge to deliver to Tasmania. Again, all cargo was required to be moved together which limited the options.
On arrival in Tasmania, the unloading and delivery (pictured in the gallery below) was handled spotlessly with all the cargo in perfect condition. The customs processes were also cleared before the cargo arrived in Australia with no extra cost, no inspections, and no BSMB issues.
Spark Global Logistics demonstrated their expertise and experience in handling complex project cargo movements with a difficult task delivered on time and on budget.
