SCACLI and Protranser Deliver Heavy Transformers Door-to-Door

PCN members, SCACLI in Canada and Protranser International Logistics in China recently collaborated on the seamless breakbulk shipping of large transformers, each weighing 127mtn and measuring 9.1 x 3.1 x 4.45m plus all their accessories. The project was executed via a chartered vessel with final door-to-door delivery.
On the China side, Protranser expertly managed the time-critical specialised transport from the shipper's factory to the port of loading in Qingdao. This included immediate storage at origin, conducting detailed road surveys, and securing necessary permits, ensuring the units departed the factory on schedule. As always, Protranser moved quickly, securely and professionally to make this happen.
The initial scope covered transport to the Canadian discharge port. The part charter was fixed by SCACLI to Canada as well as the discharge. However, just two days prior to the vessel's arrival, the client changed the scope to include final mile logistics. SCACLI coordinated closely with the rail company, truckers, stevedores, and a storage yard for the transformers and parts. Despite numerous challenges - including a rail strike and the need to build a bridge over an existing bridge for the final kilometre from rail siding to the site - SCACLI's dedicated team ensured a successful execution.
In addition to the transformers, SCACLI also arranged supporting cargo shipments by air, ocean, and ground from the USA, Canada, Brazil, and other origins.
