First Global Logistics (FGL), who joined PCN in October 2012, were recently nominated by Sina Cola, the 3rd giant of Minerals in Egypt behind Coca-Cola and Pepsi, to import its new production line for their factory from a supplier in Italy up to CFR Alexandria port.

Mazen Sabry of FGL says "Our nomination came afterdeep competition with some multinationals but the great support, professional and prompt assistance from our PCN Italian partner, Base Spa, was the main key for closing the bid. Our scope of work:

  • Scanning the shipper’s site and the cargo to determine number of containers to be used checking the best rates and fastest transit time.

  • Pre-carriage for 11*40’ft containers as 1st shipment, customs clearance, export port operations at Genoa port, sea freight up to Alexandria port.

  • Road Permits for the oversized cargo for the 2nd shipment (4*40’Flat racks)

  • Loading the oversized machinery on trucks up to Base Spa Warehouse in Genoa port, lashing the cargo, packing the machines with cover jolly, customs clearance, export port operations, sea freight up to Alexandria port.

Base Spa faced 2 obstacles for loading the 2nd lot (4*40’Flat Rack):

1) The decided loading time was a touristic sky season in Italy and shipper’s site was in front of Sky resorts which made the road authorities want to close 20 km of street and after long negotiations with authorities, Base Spa reached an agreement to move the cargo along with 21 escort cars which was minimized finally to 9 escort cars.

2) Due to the winter season and heavy snow in Italy, shipper’s site was covered in snow noting that cargo was put in open air, so the Base Spa team went there and cleaned the site from snow for smooth and safe cargo loading."
