PCN Help Type 1 Diabetic Children in India

20th September 2013

PCN Help Type 1 Diabetic Children in India
PCN Help Type 1 Diabetic Children in India

The generosity of PCN Members is always very moving. Last year, we raised US $5540 for the Dream Trust. After our 2012 Annual Summit, my sister Mary and I made a self-funded trip to see how our fundraising has helped the charity. It was incredible to see the fantastic work that the trust does to not only save lives, but to help rehabilitate and give the children a future. Please click here to read more about our trip and see photos.

So far this year, we have raised a further US $3695 from delegates attending our upcoming meeting. This will pay for the insulin and save the lives of 6 more children! Plus, Jürgen Weyhausen, Director Projects at V. Alexander International Logistics GmbH recently informed me that they will be donating E1000 to the Dream Trust just before Christmas. Fantastic news!If you are not attending the meeting but would like to contribute, you have 2 options:

  1. Sponsor A Child. You or your company can sponsor the life-saving insulin for one child for one year for just $350, simply complete this form.

  2. You can make a much appreciated contribution by transferring your donation via bank transfer to PCN or Paypal. Every pound/dollar/euro/yen/peso that is donated will go directly to The Dream Trust.

The charity was chosen as it is close to my heart - my 12 years old son, George (pictured right) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in October 2010. We are fortunate in the UK to have George's insulin and medication supplied by our health service. However, in India, many diabetic children from poor families suffer or die as their parents are sometimes unable to afford the medication that they need. I know the worry and fears for Type 1 diabetic parents and hope that together, we can help them.

PCN FOUNDATION

The majority of PCN Members recognise the importance of supporting and actively contributing to those who are less fortunate. We are aware that a small effort from each Member can make a big impact to those in need. The PCN Foundation provides the opportunity for Members to be able to make a difference to people’s lives through annual fundraising.

2012-2015: CURRENT FUNDRAISING

Dream Trust, India www.dreamtrust.org

The main object of the Trust is to help poor children with Type 1 Diabetes. People at large, in India, are not medically insured and have to buy their own insulin and syringes. Poor families find it difficult to commit a quarter of their monthly income for the healthcare required by a diabetic child. This is why they try to find short cuts which they wrongly believe will make treatment less expensive.

Well done to all whom contributed so far, you should be very proud of yourselves!

Kind regards,
