Gebrüder Weiss Gesellschaft Share Two Recent Projects
2nd July 2015
The first shipment was 2 special suction hoses packed in a steel crate, weighing 29 tons each with the dimensions 31,50 x 2,12 x 2,54 m. The shipments were loaded in Szeged (Hungary) and made the whole journey by road to Hamburg (Germany).
Franco Ravazzolo, Manager of Project Logistics & Break Bulk describes the second project (pictured right): “We moved this ship’s catwalk from Torun in Poland to Hamburg, from there as break bulk cargo on a COSCO container ship to Dalian. The trucking from Torun to Hamburg was arranged on our behalf by fellow PCN members Scandinavian Express. The cargo dimensions were 20,20 x 3,42 x 3,50 m and the weight was 24 tons.”
Gebrüder Weiss have vast experience in a wide range of Project Cargo & Heavy Lift services and were first established in 1823. Although Gebrüder Weiss have a large network of their own branch offices handling general cargo, the offices that have joined PCN focus on project/break bulk cargo only.
Franco Ravazzolo, Manager of Project Logistics & Break Bulk, explains “We do have a wide network of branch offices, but this is the network for general cargo like containers, LCL and airfreight only. Our dedicated project network is much smaller and we are present in five countries only. We joined PCN to enhance our project operations. Basically we are a ‘company within a company’ wishing to cooperate with PCN’s specialized project partners around the globe in a fully independent mode from the rest of the Gebrüder Weiss Group.”
