EXG with Overnight Clearance of Cryogenic Oxygen Tanks in India
10th May 2021
Last week, Express Global Logistics (EXG) handled the overnight clearance of large cryogenic oxygen tanks to assist in the fight against Covid-19 in India.
Vishvendra Singh at EXG explains; "The global Covid-19 pandemic has overthrown people around the world in a new social and economic crisis, highlighting the need for urgent action to protect the population. Express Global Logistics have been committed to the movement of essential goods during the pandemic and unexpected changes due to the surge in the demand for oxygen required a prompt response so we stepped in. We were asked to perform the import custom clearance of 17 ISO cryogenic oxygen tanks at Panagarh Air Base, West Bengal."
"We worked in close coordination with the Indian Air Force and Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs to clear the consignments that arrived on an Indian Air Force flight from Bangkok, Thailand. A typical operation of two working days was achieved in around one hour in the middle of the night between 1-2am. The Central Excise & Custom Officers drove along with us for about 120km to the Panagarh Indian Air Force Base in West Bengal for an on-the-spot clearance. 6 units have been cleared so far with the remaining 11 to be cleared during May. The tanks initially came in for West Bengal but are likely to be transported to Orissa and Bihar as well."
"The crucial measures and SOPs that needed to be enforced to ensure the safety of the personnel were maintained by our team all the way to the air base. To achieve this successfully during a state-wide lockdown was challenging but EXG was committed to speed up the distribution of these essential items and cleared the consignment in just an hour. This was just a small contribution made by the EXG team for India's fight against Covid-19."
