EXG Move 76mt Tank from Mundra to Antwerp on Containerised Vessel
29th August 2015
Express Global Logistics (EXG) in India have recently executed a project shipment of a tank bound for Belgium. The heavy break-bulk unit (76.61mt and measuring 10.36 x 5.96 x 6.16m) was delivered to Antwerp port from Mundra port in India.
Director at EXG, Mr. Nailesh Gandhi describes the shipment; "With many regular heavy lift conventional liners suspending its services from the Indian continent to Europe due to small volumes, it was quite challenging to get a sailing for Antwerp from Mundra within the deadline as the cargo was required to urgently reach the buyer. This was unlikely in conventional sailings as the transit time of most of the conventional vessels are much higher than the regular liner containership transit times. Therefore, a shipping service solution was needed and we arranged for a conventional break-bulk matched with the dedicated transit time of a container liner whilst maintaining competitive freight budgets.
There were also several challenges to load the tank onto the containerised vessel. EXG is committed to follow the highest level of safety standards in the industry with a strict safety policy in place. EXG came up with an innovative solution to load the 76mt package without compromising on HSE requirements.
EXG would like to express its gratitude to our esteemed customer for the confidence shown for performing this critical job. EXG would also like to thank all our partners & vendors who provided their utmost support in providing their expertise for the timely execution of this operation. As well as this, EXG would like to thank the shipping company & its operation personnel and most of all, the port authority and their staff for their excellent support to make this project a success.
