Delta Maritime with Update on Trans Adriatic Pipeline Project
Delta Maritime with Update on Trans Adriatic Pipeline Project

Delta Maritime are members in Greece and Serbia, specialising in project cargo logistics with a diverse portfolio of high-quality services, a track record of success and sustainable growth. They are well experienced in the logistical requirements of a range of different industries.

For the past year, Delta Maritime have been providing their reliable services to the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) Project. The pipeline will transport Caspian natural gas to Europe through Greece and Albania, across the Adriatic Sea to Italy. Some of their previous articles related to the project are linked below:

"The TAP project is at the construction phase, which started in 2016. Once built, TAP will offer a direct and cost-effective transportation route opening up the vital Southern Gas Corridor, a 3,500km long gas chain stretching from the Caspian Sea to Europe."

"TAP's commitment to health and safety recognises that the project has a duty of care to its host communities and workforce. The project's targets are zero casualties and no serious incidents so all involved parties are committed to comply strictly with TAP's overall health and safety principles. The health and safety performance of the project's contractors and suppliers are closely monitored at all times to ensure that TAP meets its commitments."

Since April 2016, Delta Maritime has been heavily involved in the project, offering project logistics services through the EPCs and pipe supplier. As per the above statement from TAP, the operations are based on the highest QHSSE standards of the oil and gas industry, which Delta Maritime have fully adopted.

To date, notable work handled by Delta on the project has included (see gallery below for photos):

  • Over 40,000tns of pipes and hot bends from Germany have been received and delivered to the main marshalling yards (MMYs) of TAP in Greece. All cargo was handled through Thessaloniki, Kavala & Alexandroupoli Ports where Delta Maritime have their own offices. A further 13,000tns are due to be received and delivered during 2017.
  • Over 4,000 pipes have been transported from the MMYs to the pipe yards and to the construction site. Several thousand more pipes are due to be transported before the completion of the project.
  • Managing, on a sub-contract basis, one of the TAP main marshalling yards where over 20,000 heavy and OOG lifts have been performed so far including 18m and 12m pipes, hot bends as well as other structures and equipment.
  • Several sets of heavy-duty construction machinery have been transported through Piraeus Port from different origins in Europe with more continuing to be handled throughout the rest of the project.
  • Plus, many more to come!

Delta Maritime are happy to report that in accordance with the TAP targets, they have worked on the project for the past 12 months without an incident. In fact, Delta Maritime have been working on projects for the past 12 years without incident!
