C.H. Robinson Project Logistics Team Up with Delta Maritime
27th August 2015
C.H. Robinson Project Logistics (PCN member in Canada) have recently teamed up with Delta Maritime (PCN member in Greece & Serbia) to successfully deliver 2 hot and cold separators from Calgary in Alberta, Canada to the client’s site in Fier, Albania.
Due to space constraints at the Calgary client's facility, C.H. Robinson Project Logistics negotiated with the trucking company to allow personnel and equipment onto their site to have the units (the largest being 15.24 x 3.98 x 4.16m and 34.9mt) crated then loaded on the trailers. Facing extreme cold temperatures and snow as well as a tight deadline, a zoom boom crane was used to lift the hood crate segments and allow personnel to work at extended heights. In spite of these challenges, the trucks left on schedule for the port where the cargo was loaded on-board a vessel destined for Piraeus, Greece.
Delta Maritime then took control of the cargo at port upon the vessel's Friday arrival. The intention was to directly discharge from vessel to trucks, however, a delay in offloading and road restrictions meant that the trucks could not be loaded until after the weekend. As a result, the cargo rested on the dock until the following Monday and was then offloaded without incident and travelled in bond through Greece to arrive at customs at the Albanian border. Albanian customs can be a slow process but Delta Maritime's attention to detail with the paperwork alleviated any clearance issues. The separators arrived at site where two cranes waited to lift the cargo from the trucks and successfully placed them on their foundations.
Due to the collective effort and expertise of C.H. Robinson Project Logistics and Delta Maritime, the cargo (a total of 498.37cbm, 67.5mt) was delivered on time and in good condition. The photographs in the below gallery show the operations.
