C.H. Robinson Project Logistics Charters Antonov
10th October 2013
When an exploration and production company contacted C.H. Robinson Project Logistics to ship equipment by the quickest means possible from Calgary, Alberta, Canada to the client’s production site in the Middle East, the team went right to work.
With limited time to transport the equipment to the destination, the C.H. Robinson Project Logistics team, a PCN member for Canada, determined what type of aircraft would accommodate the cargo consisting of several pieces of oil field equipment. Based on the dimensions, total weight of the equipment with the heaviest piece at 30 metric tons, and aircraft availability, the team selected an Antonov AN 124.
C.H. Robinson Project Logistics worked with a local engineering firm which provided information on the cargo, including drawings of the equipment. C.H. Robinson Project Logistics arranged the transportation from origin to the Calgary airport and had staff on-site at the origin and airport to make sure things went smoothly. The team of experts arranged for local trucking, export crating, stuffing, blocking and bracing of the cargo into containers, and all export documentation.
